Thanks for this concise overview of what's going on in France's capital. It seems to me like the same old tune: the powerful testing the limits of their power; the people being largely unaware of how it affects them; and the political machine continuing to churn in a way that is confusing enough to the average person that it assures the status-quo shall never change
It is literally & figuratively unfortunate that the left decided not to support a true & decent centrist such as Barnier and instead to cuddle up to the far right.
I don't agree with this analysis, personally. The Barnier government had the legitimacy of a paper party hat at a three year old's birthday celebration. His LR party won less than 10 percent in the snap elections, and benefited from left wing candidates bowing out of several close races so the far right would not be elected. While I do thing Barnier has suffered perhaps unfairly from the decisions made by his executive (who is literally responsible for this entire situation), I don't think he had a mandate to govern and his choices for pretty much every ministry were, to me, a capitulation to the far right.
If you wanted to say that it is the RN that has cuddled up to what should be qualified as a populist, coalition left, NFP, then I’d give you a pass. ☺️

Yep! All the while using high minded rhetoric that on the surface is hard to argue with (re: tonight's speech to the nation)
Oh it was a classic McMacron Menu of Saucy & Vague Categorical Truths
😅

I refer you to the link to Phineas’ post, Resist & repeat. True & decent centrist? Fine words but untrustworthy.
Thanks for the update Phineas!
The center isn't a flavor, it's the fulcrum.
The 20th century called, wants its deleterious Clintonite centrism back.

Cuddle up? No. Not happening.

Yes, Barnier did cuddle up to the far right. But the left? Never!
